The House That God Has Forgotten Part : Even There Is Love Here.
The glances while walking up and down the corridors with a twinkle in there eyes. I have seen it.
The Nurse tongue kissing her boyfriend outside the round entrance ways with his hand on her ass. I have seen it.
The story of the two people making out in the chapel. I heard about that.
The guy and girl that had sex in the bathroom at the first annual jail party I was there at the same party (both were NOT single by the way).
The guy who sent dirty sms to a nurse after the second annual jail party. I heard about it.
The incident in the archive room. I heard about it.
The guy and girl that fell in love in the HRL course. I saw it.
The guy who sent dirty pictures to summer workers. I watched him walk up and down the corridors.
The guy working his way through all of the women that work there. I have heard about it.
And finally the guards that spent a little too much time extra with the inmates;
“You are so strong!” she would say while touching his biceps
“You need a back rub, you look so tense,” the prisoner would say to her.
Yes… in the House That God Has Forgotten a lot of things have happened in the romance department.
I will admit in the beginning of this entry that I am guilty of having a romance in The House That God Has Forgotten. I did, and it caused me a bit of trouble.
Want to hear about it? Ok I will tell you. She worked on the 10th floor and probably like everything I listed above we were one of these stories. I fell for her HARD… but she was embarrassed to be with me… so I like the fool I was let us stay on the “down low”. We would leave together, come in together. (for those of you that do not get that, people are watch that… so if you are going to play… hello! be a little discreet!)
She refused to admit it. She was ashamed because I was me and she did not want people to know about it.
There have however been a few success stories at The House God Has Forgotten.
The couple that met at prison guard school and now are married, and have 3 kids together. I am not going to tell you about that one, I instead am going to tell you about the two that I watched right in front of my eyes.
There was guy once, a nice guy. I remember him one day up there at promenade telling me how he proposed to his girlfriend. Really romantic stuff. This was where I learned that he was a romantic. He loved his woman.
Then she came to his floor. There was something that fascinated him about her. The saying hello every morning went to him fumbling around looking for words to say to her. He was fixated. She was charmed.
They would exchange stolen glances to each other, and every single morning before work started, they hoped and prayed they would get to work together.
Sure. It is really romantic to hand out a thermos and a cardboard box of food to 24 people, but it was something. It was time together.
He the nice guy he was riddled with guilt. And when his girlfriend was pregnant that put him in another dilemma; like the old Clash song…
“Should I stay or should I go?” he would silently churn around and around in his head.
He decided he had to go. He was a man of character, He needed to do the right thing, so he got a new job and decided to look forward and never look back into her eyes again.
That did not last too long. He was back in a few days, and this time he was ready to stay.
They now have a son together and a another baby on the way.
The other two… they laughed a lot together. I so knew what was going on.
“We are friends!” they would both say.
Yeah right. They were friends like I am blonde and like to wear dresses and make up. They were in love too. They got married and we say with love that the jail is called;
“The Gustafsson family business”
So there is a lot of love getting thrown around and a lot of people talking about it. I have not heard of anyone falling for an inmate, but you never know.
If you have all night to sit there and think of how to charm someone with a low sense of esteem magical things can happen.
You even hear love from inmates to inmates… but… we had …
Well let me explain… we have this thing where the inmates that are locked in by themselves can share some time with other inmates in the same situation (upon approval of the district attorney) you know like hang out in a room at watch TV or whatever.
Once a person walked in on two of them having oral sex. I heard that at least.
So it happens people always are talking about things and gossip is just like high school as well. There are a lot of things that are like high school that happen in The House That God Has Forgotten, but one thing is always true…
I always know that there is something going on…
Stay tuned for the next epic tale of The House That God Has Forgotten..
