The House That God Has Forgotten Part 14:  Jail Is Not A Happy Place

There are not any happy people behind those doors at The House That God Has Forgotten.

I cannot say it enough, jail is not a happy place.

There is always that one guy that stays in his room all day long and never asks a question, he comes out to take his food and he lives in silence. He thinks about his life, and what got him here in the first place.

“I should write a book,” he thinks silently to himself as he looks at the lined paper and pen sitting on the wooden desk by his bed.

“No one would ever want to read it.” he mumbles silently to himself.

He then quickly turns his head to face the wall and starts to cry himself into a corner.

Night comes and the voices surround him. The screaming about who has what for a lawyer and countless legal tips being thrown across the room like confetti.

He just wants them to be quiet.

He just wants to have the time to miss everything on the outside. Here it is empty and there is nothing to keep him going.

And Jesus wept inside The House That God Has Forgotten.

The guy behind this door down the hall loves to read. He reads all the time and knows all the routines.

“I want to talk to my lawyer, I have the right to talk to my lawyer whenever according to this law”.

When he gets his food in the morning, he never shuts up. Always asking questions and telling the guards what they should do and not do.

He asks for law books, and he begs for attention. He takes his hour walk every morning and watches the clock.

Not a minute under, or a minute over.

“I have the right to exactly a one hour walk everyday” he says while pushing the button to the promenade cell telephone.

He is watching you like a stalker. He wants you to make a mistake so he can file a complaint.

And Jesus wept inside The House That God Has Forgotten.

He comes from the street, or at least he likes to think he does. He screams and tests your boundaries everyday. When it is time to go up for a walk, he lies in bed and refuses to get up.

“Come back for me later,” he says while rolling over in his bed.

The guards try to motivate him, waiting outside his cell for ungodly amounts of time.

“He needs to get out of his cell” they say to each other.

He is just a kid. A kid that has just turned 18 today in The House That God Has Forgotten, so today he will bake a cake.

At night you will hear everyone talking about how everyone is so tough and who did what to get in there.

“I robbed him, he deserved it” one room screams down the hall.

“It was just a little gun, no big deal.” another one screams.

“I killed somebody” he silently thinks to himself.

He thinks about the party he is missing and the many more to come. While his victims family is lying on the ground crying by their loved ones grave.

And Jesus wept in The House That God Has Forgotten.

This man is angry and misunderstood. He speaks Russian and is confused.

“This is not like jail in Russia, but at least there they could understand me”

Here he lives in a bubble. Knowing the only three words to his vocabulary:

Promenade.

Cigarette.

Finish Promenade.

He has no idea what is going on around him. He is lost in his own world with nothing to do. No visitors and nothing to look forward to because he has no idea what is happening around him.

Do the crime. Pay the price you say silently in your head while you read this, but he does not understand the words. So you can never explain it to him.

You just wait until he finds someone that speaks Russian whom he can talk to or can translate for him.

And Jesus wept in The House That God Has Forgotten.

This guy has nothing to loose. He is getting kicked out of the country and does not want to go home.

He will do anything to fight against it.

Food flies in his cell in slow motion. The sound of televisions breaking everyday until he is not allowed one anymore.

He does not care. Give him food he can only eat with his fingers, he likes egg rolls and pancakes and hot dogs.

He will get tired of not getting the attention anymore he thinks he needs to get to stay in the country.

First there will be three guards there when they open the door, and eventually when they open the door he will have handcuffs around his small hands.

He doesn’t care.

He pisses on the door instead. He throws his shit on the door and he waits to fight his way out of the room.

5 people in white helmets will come and pick him up and carry him to a room with a mattress and a horse blanket.

They will shut off his water because he will flood his cell, they watch as he in slow motion as he reaches for that food to throw at you as you open the little window of the cell.

They will like lightning try to reach for you as you go there to talk to him.

But he too will never get to stay the one place he wanted to. The House That God Has Forgotten.

He does not know what is going on. he hears voices in his head and no one wants to believe him.

He draws pictures in his cell made of blood, and he loves to tell all of the women how he wants to “lick their pussy”.

The other guy walks up and down the corridor of the promenade saying this is not where he is supposed to go in and instead screams at the other inmates to get him out.

The third guy killed his son. He did not mean to he said over and over again, so he tried to kill himself directly after. He failed.

There was no place for them at the mental hospital so they sent them here.

And Jesus wept at The House That God Has Forgotten.

Jail is not a happy place.

The House That God Has Forgotten is not a happy place.
